Position Summary
The Registered Nurse on the Med-Surg floor is responsible for delivering patient-centered care during the night shift. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring a safe and healing environment. Night shift nurses are pivotal in managing patient care with limited on-site resources, requiring autonomy and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities

Patient Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.

Monitoring: Regularly monitor vital signs, perform necessary assessments, and promptly address any changes in patient conditions.

Medication Administration: Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation.

Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate patient records, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Collaboration: Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.

Patient Education: Provide education to patients and families regarding health conditions, post-discharge care, and medication management.

Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, utilizing critical thinking skills to provide immediate care.

Admissions and Discharges: Facilitate patient admissions and discharges during the night shift, ensuring all protocols are followed.
Qualifications

Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Mississippi.

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Med-Surg nursing experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations may be considered.

Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently during night hours.
